Regional Drift Trips

This summer Bike & Build will run two shorter 3 week long regional events - The Coastal Drift in the Northeast Atlantic region, and Drift West in the Pacific Northwest.

The fundraising requirement is $2250 and preference will be given to applicants who can ride for the entire 3 weeks.  Drift riders will have a donation program similar to our cross country model.  The group will receive and review grant applications and make funding decsions via group consensus.  Additionally, each rider will be afforded $250 to donate to an AH org of their choice.

Coastal Drift: This summer, B&B’s East coast ride will run from Maine’s Acadia national park to New York City. Over the course of 3 weeks and 830 miles, riders will weave in and out of some of the Northeast’s VIPs. With build days in island towns like Nantucket in addition to major metropolises Portland and NYC, riders will traverse both urban and rural landscapes and experience the mutable affordable housing issue that parallels the varied terrain. Drift West: Starting in Portland, OR and ending in Bellingham, WA, Drift West participants spend 3 weeks and 950 miles exploring the highlight reel of the Pacific Northwest. Geographic icons like the Hoh Rain Forest, Olympic National Park, Mt Rainier, Deception Pass, and the San Juan Islands are punctuated by “megacity” celebrities Portland and Seattle, allowing riders to experience the area’s renowned cultural and topographic diversity in full.
