Hello! My name is Kamila Widulinski. I am a 22 year old architecture student. I am originally from Stamford, Connecticut, but went to high school in Florida and for the last five years, have been studying in Boston at Northeastern University. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, cooking, and being outdoors. I will be graduating this May, right before I get to get on the road to Bike & Build!

As an architecture student, I have a strong dedication to the affordable housing cause, as I have studied housing for much of my college life. I believe that everyone deserves access to proper, affordable housing so that they can focus on living a life full of happiness, health and success! Boston is the third most expensive city in the United States, so I have experienced the issues of affordable housing in my own community. The constantly growing rental prices have forced many families to leave the city, and they have resulted in increased homelessness. Even as a student, it is very difficult to find affordable and adequate places to live while studying here.

I started biking as a form of transportation when I moved to Boston in 2011. I have been through quite a few bikes, from a salvaged rusty, step-over bike without gears from the 1920's that was given to me as a gift when I first arrived, to a sleek black fixed gear (that may or may not have been my first love) which was stolen from me in Los Angeles, to a 1980's 12-speed 44 cm terry that I now use as my main bike. I have been biking through rain, snow, and heat waves for several years now, so I am ready to take on the unpredictable weather of the Northern US head on!

I am excited to bike across the United States to experience the beauty of our country and help out the many communities in need with my own hands and feet! This will be an incredible opportunity to experience some of the beautiful national parks, mountains, and forests (and highways?) our country has to offer. Although I can say I've I biked across a country before, that country was Holland, so it took a mere two days. I am excited to say that the United States will take a little longer and am looking forward to the challenge. My friend Carly inspired me to do this and I can't wait to have her pedaling right next to me!
