Hello friends! My name is Kendyl and I am currently a 23-year old senior at Western Washington University. By the time I meet the Bike & Build team, I will have graduated with a BS in Math and Bio. I have an awesome family with four brothers and a sister who support and inspire me daily. I have a passion for people, the outdoors, community service, and athletics. Bike & Build seems to be a perfect combination of all of these things!

I have been an athlete since I could walk. I grew up playing soccer and baseball, football with my brothers, hiking, swimming, and then I rowed for a year in college. I love riding my bike to class and around town, but I have never had a chance to participate in a long bike trip. My parents have done the annual RSVP (Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party) bike ride about four times, and I turn green with envy each year hearing their stories and seeing their pictures. I am so excited to finally be a part of a substantial bicycle tour. I am also so eager to see and explore this beautiful country I live in. As a west coast native, the farthest east Iíve been is Texas. I canít wait to get to know America in all its glory and expand my quite limited national travel experience.

More than anything, I am excited to be a part of a national volunteer team. The times I have found myself happiest in life are those Iíve spent volunteering, but most of my volunteer experience has been outside of the country. While each of the volunteer trips Iíve been a part of were incredibly rewarding, I have recently been reflecting on all there is to be done in my home country. If I can reach people on my bike, then surely they are neighbors. And I want all my neighbors to experience the same blessings and comforts of America that I have. I have been so fortunate to grow up in a comfortable home, and I want all my neighbors across the country to feel the same.

Biking across the country for affordable housing will be a challenging, enriching, and probably life-changing experience. I am looking forward to meeting and working with an awesome group of young adults, and I canít wait to spend a summer living my dream and helping others. I am so grateful to be a part of this and so grateful to all of you who help make it happen!
